Lapland (Swedish: Lappland, Latin: Lapponia) is a arena in northernmost Sverige. It borders Jämtland, Ångermanland, Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Norway and Finland. About a division of Sweden's apparent breadth is in Lapland.
Lapland originally continued eastward. However, in 1809 the Russian Empire annexed the eastern allotment of the Swedish realm, and created the Grand Duchy of Finland, which in aftereffect breach Lapland into a Swedish allotment and a Finnish part, both of which still abide today.
